Trapshooters take gold
Twelve members of the Mt. Pleasant trapshooting team traveled to Montrose to compete in the Satellite Iowa Winter Games on Feb. 11, getting some practice in during the offseason.

Twelve members of the Mt. Pleasant trapshooting team traveled to Montrose to compete in the Satellite Iowa Winter Games on Feb. 11, getting some practice in during the offseason.
?After a winter of not shooting, they still had the edge,? Panther Coach John Klopfenstein said.
One Mt. Pleasant squad took first place in the team event with a score of 354. They beat out the West Central Illinois team, which scored 312 for second place, and the Tri-State team, which scored of 308 for third.
Each team member was awarded a gold medal.
Two of the Panthers also took top places in individual events.
JD Klopfenstein won first place and claimed a second golf medal for his efforts in the 16-yard individual event.
Sam Kuckes won a bronze medal for third in the 19-yard handicap event.
The Panthers? second squad came in fourth place in the team event.
Overall, 47 people competed in this event put on by the Iowa Winter Games.
?They all competed in bitter cold and wind that day,? Klopfenstein said. ?I am very proud of all of our team that competed.?
The Mt. Pleasant trapshooting team will officially begin practiceing in March.
