Trifecta of area girls make Class 3A 100-hurdle finals
Mt. Pleasant’s Karsyn Lamm, Fairfield’s Anna Dunlap and Kelsey Pacha continue Saturday; Mt. Pleasant’s Bryce Wilson makes finals in 110 highs

DES MOINES — The Union coverage area had numerous runners in the girls 100-meter hurdles and boys 110-meter high hurdles qualifiers on Friday, and four runners are moving on to Saturday’s finals.
The biggest score for the Union area came in the Class 3A girls 100-meter hurdles. Fairfield’s junior duo of Anna Dunlap and Kelsey Pacha moved on, as did Mt. Pleasant senior Karsyn Lamm.
Dunlap ran the qualifier in a scorching 15.46 seconds, breaking Fairfield’s school record in the process. She qualified second in the class, best of the four area hurdlers in the 3A competition.
Pacha hit the finish line at 16.16 seconds, the sixth-best qualifier. Lamm was right on her heels at 16.17 seconds for qualifier No. 7.
Mt. Pleasant junior Kenna Lamm finished 16th in the event. She crossed the line in 16.81 seconds.
Mt. Pleasant will have a runner in the boys’ 110-meter high hurdles as well. Sophomore Bryce Wilson qualified third in Class 3A, reaching the finish line in 15.20 seconds.
In the Class 2A 110-meter high hurdles, Van Buren County’s Lane Davis represented the area. He failed to qualify, finishing 23rd, in 16.83 seconds.
There were four area contestants in the Class 1A boys’ 110-meter high hurdles. None of them qualified.
Aaron Hershberger of Hillcrest Academy did the best of the Class 1A quartet, placing 17th, in 16.39 seconds. Columbus’ Triston Miller finished 18th, in 16.41 seconds. WACO’s Simeon Reichenbach took 19th, in 16.48 seconds, and Winfield-Mount Union’s Dane Sweezer took 21st, in 16.68 seconds.
