MASON CITY — The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association will put on the 2022 IHSBCA All-Star Series, starting on Friday night. Four All-Star teams will play a round robin style tournament, which will last throughout the weekend.
The Union area will be represented in the Small Schools East team. Three of the 15 players on the squad are from local squads.

Class 1A state champion New London will have two players representing the area. Catcher Tucker Gibbar and infielder Kooper Schulte will join up one last time just one week after winning it all in Carroll.
The New London duo will be teaming up with former rival Tyson Cota of Kee, Lansing. Cota pitched against New London in the 2021 state tournament.

Keota put one player on the team as the Eagels’ lone senior made the squad. Ace pitcher and infielder Colten Clarahan is listed as a utility player.
Some other familiar names on the Small Schools East team include Cascade pitcher Jack Carr and outfielder Tanner Simon. Both Carr and Simon played in the Class 2A first round against Mid-Prairie this season.
