Fairfield baseball had a great finish to its week. The Trojans bounced back from a loss to Central Lee on Wednesday with a pair of wins on Saturday against Van Buren County and Moravia, winning 13-2 and 9-5 respectively.
The Trojans were defeated by Central Lee 12-9.
On Saturday, the Trojans headed over to Davis County’s Mustang Sports Complex in a four team showdown, which included Davis County, Van Buren County, Moravia and the Trojans.
In the first game of the day, Fairfield took care of business against VBC. The Trojans erased an early 2-0 first inning deficit and never let the Warriors score again.
Fairfield went on to put up a whopping nine runs up in the second inning to build a 10-2 advantage. The Trojans only extended that lead in the bottom half of the third, adding three more to their total.
Dain Burkhart and Aiden Westercamp finished with three hits each. Westercamp had three RBIs and Burkhart one. Jacob Crew had two hits and three RBIs. Luke Konczal and Cason Miller each had two hits and two RBIs as well.
On the hill, Carson Elmore threw 4.2 innings with five strikeouts, while giving up just one hit.
In game two against Moravia, neither team scored through the first two innings.
The Trojans opened up the scoring with three runs in the third and they would never trail.
Moravia put three runs on the board in the fourth and two in the sixth, but the Trojans matched them each time.
Westercamp finished with three RBIs on one hit in game two. Miller ended with two hits and one RBI. Dain Burkhart had a pair of RBIs as well and Ethan Bisgard had one.
With the wins, Fairfield gets back to .500 and now sits as 3-3.
