Trojan boys 2nd in Ottumwa
Fairfield takes silver at Don Newell Classic; Girls finish 7th

OTTUMWA — The Fairfield boys track and field team showed out at the Don Newell Classic in Ottumwa on Tuesday night, scoring 139 points to finish second place.
The Trojan boys ended the night just 15 points back of Newton for the top spot. The Fairfield girls scored 37, for 7th.
The Trojan boys had four winners on the day, two of which came in individual track events. Gabe Tejada took first place in the 800-meter run, and Dylan Adam edged teammate Spencer McCready in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Trojans had two wins in relays. The sprint medley relay team, and the distance medley relay team, topped the field.
Ousman Saine finished second in the 200-meter dash. Ryan Giberson finished second in the 110-meter highs, and Eli Zillman took second in the long jump.
The Trojan boys 4X100 team and 4X200 team both took second, as did the shuttle-hurdle relay team.
McCready finished third in the long jump. Blake Burnett was third in the high jump Clae Cass finished third in the 3200, and the 4X400 team took third as well.
On the girls’ side, the 4X400 team finished third for the Trojans’ only Top-3 finish.
