BLOOMFIELD - The Fairfield boys basketballteam struggled to shoot the basketball in a 45-39 nonconference loss at Davis County on Monday night. Despite forcing 23 Mustang turnovers, the Trojans couldn't pull out a win, shooting just 22.2 percent from the field, 25 percent from 3-point range and 47.1 percent from the charity stripe.
It was a low scoring game at halftime, as Davis County held a 16-12 after two quarters. Fairfield battled back in the second half, even leading in the fourth quarter, but the ball just wasn't finding the bottom of the net.
'(It's) Davis County's best team they have had in years, (and) young as well,” Fairfield head coach Mick Flattery said. '(We) had our chances.”
Elan Ledger led the Trojans with 10 points, knocking down two of Fairfield's seven 3-pointers. Tate Allen hit a couple shots from down town as well, and ended the night with eight points.
Carter Ferrel finished the night with five points and six assists. Max Weaton scored five points. J.J. Lane and Blake Holden scored three points apiece. Drew Martin had two points, nine rebounds and three steals. Isaac Harris had two points and Ryan Higgins had one.
