The Fairfield boys' soccer team improved to 3-2 overall with two victories and a loss Saturday at the tournament in Solon.
Ottumwa
The Trojans fell 2-0 to the Bulldogs who also went 2-1 on Saturday. Junior goalkeeper Maxx Anderson saved six of the eight shots by Ottumwa with Eli Moore earning the only shot on goal for Fairfield.
Clinton
With Fairfield earning four corner kicks after only getting one in the first game, the Trojans scored three times on 13 shots on goal for the 3-2 victory. Junior Leone Gichure scored twice and Eli Moore added another while freshman Isaac Rosales dished out two assists.
Albia
Solon beat Ottumwa 2-1, but only beat the Blue Demons 2-0 while Fairfield beat Albia 7-1?! Something doesn't add up, but either way, Fairfield collected a boost of confidence with the six-goal victory that saw senior Nicholas Frisbie score three times for a hat trick, Gichure add two more to his daily total and Juan Rojo and Landen Schafer find the back of the net, as well.
