FAIRFIELD — A pair of Fairfield boys soccer players signed letters of intent 30 minutes apart on Thursday. Drake Drish will be off to Central College next fall, and Eli Moore will be at Iowa Wesleyan.
Drish will join a Central College team that went 3-4-1 in the 2020 regular season. He says he visited Pella after hearing good things from his sister, Danae Drish, who currently attends the school.
“We first went to UNI, and I really liked it, but my mom said ’you at least have to visit one more,” Drish said. “I really liked the dorms and the small campus, and the coach seemed really nice.”
Drish has scored five goals for the Trojans this year, third most on the team.
Moore has scored two for the Trojans so far. He’ll take his talents to an Iowa Wesleyan squad that went 6-2-2 this season.
“I knew they had a good program, and I was very excited when they offered me,” Moore said. “It really came down to what I wanted to go into for college.”
Moore says he will be studying physical therapy with a psychology minor.
Both Drish and Moore said they want to stay in Iowa. Moore says staying close to Fairfield played a big part in his decision.
“It is very nice knowing I can live at home and mom can still cook me meals,” Moore said. “It’s a big plus.”
The Trojans still have business to take care of on the high school field. The Trojans will begin the Class 2A Substate 5 tournament with a home game against Washington on Thursday.
“We’re really pumped because this is a really good year for us to make state,” Drish said. “We’ve just got to get over some issues we’ve got.”
