GRINNELL — The Fairfield girls basketball team had its hands full and then some on Tuesday night. The Trojans traveled to No. 11 (3A) Grinnell for a non-conference game, one the Tigers would pull out 78-36.
The Trojans had trouble slowing down a daunting Grinnell offense. The Tigers led 22-4 after the first quarter, 47-10 at halftime and 62-21 after three.
The loss marked Fairfield’s third in a row after a Jan. 3 road win over Van Buren County. The Trojans are now 2-11 overall.
Fairfield will put its 2-5 Southeast Conference record on the line on Friday against Burlington (3-5, 0-5). The Trojans defeated Burlington earlier this season.
