FAIRFIELD - The Fairfield girls soccer team had an early look at its first postseason opponent on Friday night. The Trojans fell 1-0 to an Oskaloosa team it will face in Round 1 of the regional tournament.
Oskaloosa scored its only goal of the game in the second half.
Despite the loss, it was the best defensive performance for Fairfield since April 15, when Fairfield beat Fort Madison 2-1 on the road. The Trojan defense hadn’t held an opponent to one goal or less since that day.
The Trojans have one more regular season game. They will travel to Ottumwa on Thursday for the last regular season game before heading to Oskaloosa for the Class 2A Region 5 quarterfinals on May 28.
