BLOOMFIELD — It took every point, but the Fairfield girls tennis team remained unbeaten Tuesday at Davis County. The Trojans toppled the Mustangs 5-4 in non-conference action.
Nothing was settled after singles play finished. The Trojans and Mustangs split the opening six games, 3-3.
Katrina Paton stood tall in the No. 1 singles match, winning 8-3. The Trojans took the bottom two singles matches, with Sydney Wells taking the No. 5 match 9-8, and Olivia Jones cruising in the No. 6 match, 8-1.
No. 2 Penelope Higdon fell 8-3 in her singles match. Abby Schaefer was defeated 8-1 in the No. 3 match, and Lauren Kraemer was defeated 8-5 in the No. 4 match.
The Trojans took care of business in doubles play, winning two out of three matches. Paton and Schaefer took the No. 1 doubles match 8-5, and Wells and Jones took the No. 3 doubles match 8-1.
Fairfield’s only loss in doubles play came in the No. 2 match, where Higdon and Kraemer fell 8-4.
The Fairfield girls are now 5-0 on the season. They’ll look to move to 6-0 this evening when they host Keokuk in a Southeast Conference matchup.
