Trojan girls tennis continues to dominate

KEOKUK — The Keokuk girls tennis team was no match for No. 3 Fairfield, which continued to slice through Southeast Conference competition. The Trojans crunched the Chiefs 8-1 for their 10th win of the season.
Fairfield dominated the singles matches. No. 1 Katrina Paton won 8-2. Penelope Higdon won 8-4 in the No. 2 match. Abby Schaefer cruised 8-2 at No. 3. No. 4 Luaren Kraemer and No. 5 Olivia Jones both won 8-1, and Sydney Wells completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 6.
Fairfield went 2-1 in doubles. The No. 2 team of Higdon and Kraemer pulled out an 8-4 victory, and the No. 3 squad of Jones and Wells won 8-3.
Fairfield’s only loss in doubles came in the No. 1 match, where Paton and Schaefer fell 8-5.
Fairfield was coming off of a big win at the Grayhound Invite over the weekend. The Trojans won Burlington’s home tournament with 18 points.
In Burlington, the foursome of Paton, Higdon, Jones and Wells all won their respective singles brackets. Jones and Wells also won the No. 3 doubles bracket.
Maharishi was also at the Grayhound Invite. The Pioneers were fourth, with nine points.
