KNOXVILLE — It was a tough night on the pitch Tuesday for the Fairfield girls soccer team.
In a trip to Knoxville to battle with the Panthers, the Trojans were outdone 8-0.
Fairfield struggled to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball as they were shutout in the contest.
In the first, the Trojans kept it close for the majority of the half, but by the halftime whistle they found themselves down 3-0.
Fairfield fought hard throughout the second half, but Knoxville continued to pressure the Trojan defense.
It wasn't long before Panthers added five more goals to their total, putting the Trojans in an eight goal deficit.
The deficit was too great for the Trojans and Knoxville was able secure the win.
Fairfield was berated on the defensive end, as Knoxville sent 33 total shots at goal with 24 on target.
The Trojans, now 0-5, will play host to Keokuk (2-5) in their next game on Thursday.
