Trojan girls win first of season
Fairfield grabs first victory of the year with slim win over Burlington

BURLINGTON — The Fairfield girls basketball team got its first win of the season on Friday night on the road at Burlington.
After Burlington stormed back from a large Fairfield lead, the Trojans were able to hold on for the 45-41 victory.
The Trojans scored the first nine points of the game and followed with the first 10 points of the second half.
After a pair of threes from Savannah Hollander, the Trojans held a 13-4 advantage.
Fairfield held the Grayhounds to just two first-half field goals to cap off the first half with a 20-7 lead.
Coming out of the break, Hollander connected on two more deep balls to push the Trojan lead to 30-7.
Burlington found some momentum through the rest of the third period and into the fourth.
The Grayhounds doubled their first half total in the third, scoring 16.
In the fourth, Burlington continued to click.
Fairfield was outscored 18-7 in the final quarter of the night.
A triple by BHS cut it to within four with just a minute to go, but Fairfield was able to hold for its first win.
Hollander led the Trojans with 20 points.
