Trojan golf triumphs at home
Washington’s Roth is top performer, followed by Fairfield’s Christensen and Mt. Pleasant’s Matheney

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield had it going on the golf course Monday night. The Trojan boys secured their second first-place finish of the season, the first since the season opener.
The Trojans took the top spot with a team low of 322, holding off Albia by six strokes, 328. Washington and Mt. Pleasant followed with 335 and 344. Van Buren County also took part in the meet. The Warriors finished in fifth with 366.
For Fairfield, Nile Christensen shot the lowest score on the day. Christensen shot a 75 over the course of the 18 hole meet, good enough for second-place on the day. Evan Haines finished with 80. Nate Smithburg had a 83. Sam Weaton shot a 84. Max Weaton tallied 87 and Dev Eisner 88.
Roman Roth put together a nice performance for Washington. Roth shot the lowest score in the competition, 74. Teague Mayer ended with 84. Grant Sobaski shot a 88. Isaac Vetter chipped in a 89. John Prochaska tallied a 90 and Luke Beenblossom 91.
Mt. Pleasant’s leading golfer was Nick Matheney. Matheney ended his day with a 77 and a third-place finish. Reece Kempker followed with an 81. Nate Dismang and Ian Hake each shot an 93. Reece Coffman totaled 95. Ben Meader had a 126.
Riley Bruckman shot a team low 84 for Van Buren. Lukas McEntee had a 88. TJ Jirak ended with 90. Dylan Richardson shot a 104. Aidan McEntee had a 107 and Eli Padget a 120.
