FORT MADISON ? Three players all shot a 41 for the Fairfield golf team Monday, and the Trojan plugged along to another victory over Fort Madison at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison.

?Having three guys shoot a 41 isn?t bad, but we need to start seeing some lower scores,? said head coach Mick Flattery.
Playing the back nine, Fairfield didn?t record a single birdie on the day, but rather, played it safe on a punishing course they will return to, to play the front nine, for tonight?s quad meet with SEC-rival Washington, Davis County and host Fort Madison again. Scheaffer will also be the site of the Trojans? sectional tournament when postseason play begins May 14.
?At Sheaffer, you must keep the ball in play; take your medicine when you get into trouble and take a bogey instead of a double or triple by trying to hit that miraculous shot,? Flattery said. ?These meets will be great experience, especially when we return for sectionals having played both sides.?
Fry?s round continues a solid season for the senior that has already seen him hit career lows on several occassions. Monday also marked the first time Shipman counted his score towards the final team tally in his sophomore season.
Cody Kool?s 49 and Dalton Kane?s 51 served as alternate scores for Fairfield. Willie Ghent fired a terrific round of 43 for the JV squad ? a score that would have factored into the varsity team score.
Today, the 11-1 Trojans will get their first look at last year?s conference-champ Washington, which has looked just as impessive in early season duals.
