Trojan JV, freshman squads beat Keokuk

KEOKUK ? Before the Fairfield varsity volleyball team secured the conference title, Fairfield?s freshman and JV volleyball teams started the day off right with wins of their own.
The JV squad breezed to an easy 25-20, 25-7 victory over the Chiefs.
McKenna Ledger led the way with nine kills as Sydney Howard and Dorian Larson tallied eight and seven assists, respectively. Ashley Manning also played well at the net with five kills, and Hanna Greiner and Marisa Repp both had four kills.
Cheyanne Laux recorded a team-high 16 digs, and Manning came up with 13 digs. Behind the service line, Manning and Laux had five aces apiece. Valerie Payne added two of her own.
The freshman squad posted a win vs. Keokuk with scores of 26-24, 25-19.
Karley Williams was once again a force behind the service line. Williams didn?t miss a serve in 17 attempts and tallied seven aces. Hannah Morgan had three aces.
Top hitters were Madison Roberts, who recorded nine kills, and Williams, who had four kills and three digs. Jolea Burkhart came up with five digs, and Mikayla Wald had three. Alexis Ring fed the offense with 12 assists.
In the back row, Williams was good on receiving 9-of-10 serves. Roberts and Morgan were 7-of-8 and 6-of-7 on serve receive, respectively.
The Fairfield freshman and JV teams will finish up their seasons with a home match-up against conference foe Fort Madison at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
