FAIRFIELD — Fairfield baseball has had its way with Keokuk this season.
This past week, the Trojans opened and closed their season series with the Chiefs, finishing with a 10-0 shutout Southeast Conference win.
Fairfield took a three-run lead early, scoring the trio in the top of the first. That would be more than enough to win it.
After a scoreless second inning by both squads, the Trojans added two each in the third and fourth followed by three runs in the fifth to end it.
The Trojans finished with nine hits in the win. Cason Miller, Tallon Bates and Aiden Westercamp all had two hits for Fairfield. Bates and Luke Konczal each had two RBIs. Miller, Westercamp, Dain Burkhart and Aidan Kreuter all had an RBI as well.
While the bats were working well for the Trojans, the defense was just as good and Nate Konczal did just about everything you could ask for on the mound.
The senior threw five innings, giving up just one hit, one walk with three strikeouts.
With the win, Fairfield moves to 20-8 on the season and 11-3 in the SEC.
