Trojans earn awards at basketball banquet
The Fairfield boys? basketball team held its end of the year banquet Monday at Fairfield Middle School.
Coach Tyler Miklo awarded 10 varsity letters this season. The team?s six seniors, Keith Burns, Matt Carr, Landon Gamrath, Vince Horras, Joe Hietpas and Jordan Whitney, were awarded a varsity letter and a captain?s pin.

The Fairfield boys? basketball team held its end of the year banquet Monday at Fairfield Middle School.
Coach Tyler Miklo awarded 10 varsity letters this season. The team?s six seniors, Keith Burns, Matt Carr, Landon Gamrath, Vince Horras, Joe Hietpas and Jordan Whitney, were awarded a varsity letter and a captain?s pin.
Junior Federico Ferretti, sophomores Jordan Reid and Alex Crile and freshmen Cameron Baumann were also awarded varsity letters.
Carr, Gamrath, Horras, Hietpas, Whitney and Ferretti were recognized as Academic All-Conference winners. Reid, Hietpas, and Horras were named honorable mention by the Southeast Conference. Carr and Gamrath were named to the second team, while Ferretti was a unanimous first team choice.
Miklo handed out eight team awards. Ferretti was awarded the team?s MVP award, which was voted on by the players. He was also given the Mr. Assist Award for the most assists on the team and the Man of Steal Award for the most steals on the season.
Gamrath was voted by the team as its Most Improved Player, while Reid was chosen as the team?s Most Promising Player. Horras won the Windex Award for the most rebounds on the season. Joe Hietpas received the Jordan Leazer Take Charge Award for most charges on the season.
The final award of the night was the Coaches Award, which was given to Carr.
