Trojans eliminated at North Scott

ELDRIDGE - The Fairfield volleyball team had its hands full on Thursday night. The Trojans were upended in three sets against No. 3 North Scott in their Class 4A Region 8 semifinal, falling 25-8, 25-13 and 25-8.
Fairfield played North Scott much tougher in the second, but the Lancers had a big run at the end. After a Fairfield timeout with North Scott up 18-12, the Lancers ended the second set on a 7-1 run.
The Trojans held a 2-0 lead in the third set, but North Scott caught fire and never let up. The Lancers ended the night on a 25-6 run to win the final set by 17.
The Lancers had a big run in the first set, scoring eight in a row to pull past the Trojans en route to a 17-point win.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Trojans, who won four of their last five games to end the regular season.
The Trojans finished the season 12-21. North Scott will host Burlington in Tuesday's Region 8 final.
