Derek Fishel entered into a bases-loaded situation to strike out the final out and save game one, and Fairfield cruised in the nightcap to sweep Keokuk Friday night.
Austin Gridley pitched 6 2/3 strong innings before handing off to Fishel to finish a 3-2 victory, and the Trojans (13-24, 5-11 SEC) used 13 walks and eight hits to run away with game two 15-5.
On senior night, Fishel shut the door on a Keokuk (5-24, 0-14) rally in the seventh by striking out Ryan Kemp to strand three baserunners and end the game.
?It was good to send the senior out in their last home game with two wins ? all three have been integral parts of the team for the past several years,? said Fairfield head coach Josh Allison. ?It was great to have Derek come in and get the save with no room for error.?
Along with Fishel, Brandon Veirs and Brock Haines were honored on senior night.
Spencer Peterman hit what proved to be the game-winning RBI when he singled in Josh Dimmitt in the bottom of the fourth.
Gridley gave up five hits, walked five and struck out five to end up as the winning pitcher.
In the nightcap, Corbin Harwood led off the third inning with a home run to keep the Trojan bats hot and they coasted the rest of the way. Nik Fitch hit an RBI single and Seth Davisson scored on a balk in the sixth inning to end the night early.
Joe Hietpas worked around five errors and allowed one earned run on seven hits and three walks. The freshman struck out six.
Fairfield will play its regular-season finale at Oskaloosa Tuesday before opening district play at Centerville Friday night.
