The Trojan boys' soccer team fell 2-1 Thursday night at Class 2A No. 2 ranked Pella after holding a 1-0 advantage at the half.
'We took the lead in the first half by a goal from Nick Frisbie,” explained head coach Felisto Guezimane.
'The Dutch tied it up in the second half, forcing the game into overtime before they scored the winner with :44 remaining in the first half of OT.
In high school soccer, you play two overtime sessions with a golden goal and then if the two teams are still tied, they go to a shootout.
'It was quite the game,” added Guezimane. 'A nail biter. It could have gone either way with both team playing high quality soccer. Maxx Anderson was phenomenal between the posts. On the field it's hard to pin point one player, but Juan Rojo was tremendous. Jacob Bland had a great game. It was a great team performance and I could not be more proud if the team. We played one heck of a game against last year's Class 2A state champions. Hopefully we can build up from here and get better.”
