FORT MADISON - There was no fooling of the Trojans on April Fools' Day last week.
The Fairfield girls tennis team opened the season with a resounding road victory over Southeast Conference foe Fort Madison.
Fairfield dominated all nine matchups to record a 9-0 sweep.
the only match that was halfway close was the No. 3 doubles.
In the No. 1 singles Tess Paton won versus Molly Knipe, 8-2, and Fairfield teammate Nellie Higdon didn't allow a single game in the No. 2 match win over Rachel Hellman 8-0. Other match scores were: No. 3 Abby Schaefer (FF) vs. Kayla Kruse (FM) 8-1; No. 4 Lauren Kraemer (FF) vs. Camille Kruse (FM) 8-2; No. 5 Sydney Wells (FF) vs. Elizabeth Stuekerjuergen (FM) 8-4; No. 6 Olivia Jones (FF) vs. Lauren Otte (FM) 8-1; Doubles No. 1 Paton/Schaefer (FF) vs. Knipe/Hellman (FM) 8-1; No. 2 Hidgon/Kraemer (FF) vs. Kruse, K./Kruse, C. (FM) 8-2; No. 3 Wells/Jones (FF) vs. Stuekerjuergen/Otte (FM) 8-6.
