Trojans pound Panthers on the pitch

FAIRFIELD — The 13th-ranked Fairfield boys soccer team jumped all over Mt. Pleasant in a Southeast Conference game on Monday evening. The Trojans blasted the Panthers 8-0 for their third win of the year.
Fairfield scored five goals in the first half to take a commanding lead at the break. The Trojans added three in the second half.
Xavier Kapijimpanga scored a hat trick to lead the Trojans in the win. Along with his three goals, he also dished out one assist.
Drake Drish scored two goals for the Trojans. Eli Moore, Juan Rojo and Jaxen Allen all had one goal.
Chance Swan and Cooper Polonsky also made their way into the score book for the Trojans, dishing out one assist apiece.
Mt. Pleasant goalkeeper Logan Lee faced 23 shots on goal and saved 15.
Fairfield is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the SEC They will play at Fort Madison on Thursday.
Mt. Pleasant fell to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Panthers travel to Burlington on Thursday.
