Trojans run at Hilltop Co-Ed

MOUNT VERNON — The Fairfield track and field teams were at Cornell College last week for the Hilltop Co-Ed Invitational. Both the Trojan boys and girls were in action.
Fairfield had two wins on the day, one on the girls’ side and one on the boys’ side.
Lilly Bergren took first in the girls’ 60-meter hurdles, crossing the tape in 10.03 seconds after qualifying first in prelims. On the boys’ side, Gabe Tejada won the 800-meter run, crossing in 2:01.28.
Kensley Fligg gave the Trojans a second-place finish in the girls’ long jump. The freshman leaped 14 feet, 8 inches for the silver.
Ryan Giberson took second for the Trojans in the boys’ 60-meter hurdles. He crossed in 8.67 seconds after qualifying in second place during prelims.
The Trojans had a couple of second-place finishes. In the girls’ 3000-meter run, Alex Jo Steward took bronze with a final time of 13:19.12. For the boys, Ousman Saine took second in the high jump, clearing 6 foot, 2 inches.
Dylan Adam and Dayson Workman took fourth and fifth respectively in the boys’ 60-meter dash, crossing in 7.41 seconds and 7.44 seconds. Samantha Lyons was fourth in the girls’ 60-meter dash, crossing the tape in 8.47 seconds.
Fairfield had a few fifth-place finishes as well. Hannah Giberson was fifth in the girls’ high jump, leaping 4 feet, 4 inches. Blake Burnett was fifth in the boys’ high jump, leaping 5 foot, 8 inches. Aaden Regur finished the boys’ 1600 in fifth, crossing in 5:18.14.
The Trojan boys had three Top-5 finishes relays. The 4X400 was third, in 3:40.97. The 4X800 team took fifth, in 9:40.18, and the 4X200 team was fifth, in 1:41.35.
