Trojans run at UD Early Bird
Zillman, Giberson go 1-2 in high jump at University of Dubuque

DUBUQUE — The Fairfield boys and girls track and field teams were in Dubuque on Tuesday night for the 2024 UD Early Bird indoor meet. The Trojans had 13 Top-10 finishes on the day including three in the Top-5.
The stars of the day were the Trojans’ dynamic high jump duo of Eli Zillman and Ryan Giberson. Both leapers went 6 foot, 2 inches with Zillman taking first and Giberson finishing second.
The Trojan boys also got a Top-5 finish in the 4X400-meter relay. The Trojan 4X400 team crossed the tape in 3:46.41.
The Fairfield boys’ 4X800 team took seventh place, crossing the line in 9:19.33.
The Trojan boys had three eighth-place finishes. Dylan Adam took eighth in the long jump, leaving 19 feet, 1.50 inches. Gabe Tejada was eighth in the 1600, running 4:55.49, and the 4X200 team took eighth in 1:41.91.
Giberson had another Top-10 finish. He took ninth place in the 55-meter hurdles, crossing in 8.71 seconds.
On the girls’ side, Lilly Bergren took home a Top-5 in the 55-meter hurdles. Bergren finished fifth place, crossing the tape in 9.74 seconds. Maya Lane was close behind her, taking eighth place, in 9.85 seconds.
The 4X800 team had the best relay finish, taking sixth. The 4X800 squad finished the race in 11 minutes, 44.38 seconds.
Elyse Setterstrom had the best finish in the field, taking sixth in the shot put competition. Setterstrom hurled the shot up 32 feet, 5.50 inches.
Lane took eighth in the 55-meter dash, crossing in 9.85 seconds. The Trojan girls’ 4X200 was eighth, in 1:56.92, and the Trojan girls’ 4X400 team took eighth, in 4:49.22.
