Trojans split with Sigourney

The Trojan softball team traveled to Sigourney Wednesday night and split a doubleheader with the Savages, taking game one 4-2 and falling in game two 10-4.
Game one
Junior ace Allison Rebling struck out 15 batters while walking four and allowing just two runs, both earned, in the seven inning outing where she collected the win. Rebling was also credited with an RBI while Shay Drish, Jenna Norris, Peyton McCabe and Danielle Breen each had one of the teams' four hits and Coty Engle scored two of the Trojans' runs.
Game two
Fairfield took a 2-0 lead in the home half of the first, unfortunately, Sigourney answered with two runs in each of the first two innings. The Trojans then cut the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fifth, but Sigourney responded again, this time with their final six runs to secure the victory.
Freshman Hannah Simpson led the team at the plate, going 4-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored. Junior Allison Rebling also had multiple hits for the Trojans while collecting a double, an RBI and a run scored herself. Drish, Norris, McCabe and Bowman also reached base for Fairfield and Engle scored a run after going 0-3 with a walk drawn.
The eighth grader Engle went 4 1/3 in the circle with both five strikeouts and walks while sophomore Bailey Hird threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits.

The 2-4 Trojans are at Washington tonight beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the baseball team on the road versus the Demons as well with the same start time for both doubleheaders.
