Trojans struggle to find grove against Lady Dees
Fairfield held to single digits in all four quarters against Albia

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield girls basketball had a tough night on the hardwood Thursday against Albia.
The Trojans struggled on both ends of the floor early and the Lady Dees took advantage for a 54-20 win.
Fairfield struggled to put the ball in the basket against Albia, never scoring more than eight points in any give quarter.
Albia jumped out to an 18-0 lead through the first five minutes of the game. It wasn’t until the 2:56 mark that Natalie Steele put a pair on the board for the Trojans.
By the end of the first frame, Albia held onto a 24-2 lead.
Fairfield never got back into it as it scored just seven points in the quarter, all of which came with just over three minutes to play.
Albia led 33-2 until Grace Lyon buried a three to make it 33-5 with 3:11 remaining. Albia’s lead only grew as it made it 40-9 at halftime.
Fairfield was able to keep it closer through the second half, but only scored 11 points through the final two frames to the Lady Dees’ 14.
Lyon finished with 11 points for Fairfield. Faith Jones finished with three. Emma Metcalf, Elyse Setterstrom and Natalie Steele all had two points.
With the loss, the Trojans drop to 0-3.
