FAIRFIELD — Three matchups down in the Fairfield girls tennis team still hasn’t dropped a set.
In fact, the Trojan girls nearly won every single game in their Southeast Conference clash against Fort Madison on Thursday. The Bloodhounds were swept in all but one matchup in a 9-0 Fairfield victory.
Poojita Mukadam continued to shred local competition with an 8-0 win over Fort Madison’s Mady Emmett in the No. 1 matchup. Natalie Steele did the same at No. 2, beating Lucille Zimmerman 8-0.
In the No. 3 match, Ria Ross pulled out an 8-0 win over Sydney McEntee to make it three sweeps in the Top-3 singles matchups.
At No. 4, Sriya Yammanur defeated Fort Madison’s Savannah Sissel by the score of 8-1. The Trojans closed the singles competition out with two more sweeps, as Mareyn Dunkin swept Athena Snook, 8-0, at No. 5, and Faeven Gebremariam defeated Bella Vollmer, 8-0, at No. 6.
The No. 1 doubles team of Mukadam and Steele defeated Emmett and McEntee 8-0, meaning both of the Top-1 Trojans finished the day with two sweeps.
In the No. 2 doubles match, Ross and Yammanur beat Zimmerman and Sissel 8-0. In the No. 3 matchup, Dunkin and Gebremariam beat Snook and Vollmer, 8-0.
Fairfield moved to 3-0 overall this season. The Trojans are 2-0 in SEC play.
