Trojans topple Mustangs in four

FAIRFIELD - The Fairfield volleyball team ended their 2020 regular season in style on Saturday. The Trojans scored a four-set nonconference win over Davis County, popping the Mustangs 25-19, 25-22, 25-17, 25-13.
Fairfield was led by Anna Dunlap, who spread around seven kills on the night to lead the way. Olivia Jones had six kills. Brynley Allison, Ellie Anderson and Mallory Lyon all finished with four apiece, and Maddie Jones ended the night with 13 assists.
Kiya Robertson had a good night on defense, leading the squad with 17 digs. Danielle Breen finished the night with 10. Mallory Lyon finished the game with five assists, and Ellie Anderson had five.
Fairfield had a serve efficiency of 89.8 percent and dished out seven assists. M. Jones led the team with two aces. Robertson, O. Jones, Breen, Sophie Wallerich and Lauren Kraemer each had one.
It was Fairfield's third win in its last four games, dating back to last week's Southeast Conference tournament. The Trojans are now 11-20 overall and will take on Keokuk (6-20) in the first round of the Class 4A Region 8 tournament. The Trojans are 2-0 against the Chiefs this season.
