Trojans win in Centerville

CENTERVILLE — Tuesday was a big day for the Fairfield girls golf team, as the Trojans won their first team championship of the season, beating Centerville by four shots in the Redettes Golf Invite.

The Trojans shot 398 on the day, just edging Centerville’s 402. Fairfield was the only Union area team in attendance.

Viola Welsh had a huge day for the Trojans to lead the way. Welsh won the meet by nine strokes, shooting 85.

Kate Pettit was Fairfield’s second player down the list, shooting a 102. Maggie Rayburn finished at 104, and Macy Rayburn rounded out the scorers with a 107.

Fairfield’s fifth player down was Sara Kretz, who shot a 110.
