No. 1 Mid-Prairie 8, Tipton 6
The Golden Hawks had to battle to fend off Tipton, but an early spurt of runs was enough to hold the Tigers back.
Cain Brown was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the win. Karson Grout went 1-for-4 with two RBIs of his own.
Brock Harland earned the win on the mound, throwing four innings and giving up five runs (one earned) on seven hits, while striking out five batters.
No. 1 Mid-Prairie 3, Tipton 1
The top-ranked team in Class 2A broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the third to complete the sweep.
Grout went 2-for-3 with a triple to lead the Golden Hawks in Game 2. Camron Pickard was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Collin Miller threw a complete game in Game 2 for the Golden Hawks. He gave up one earned run on four hits and two walks, while striking out 12 batters.
Mediapolis 10, New London 0
Mediapolis put up two runs in the first and four in the second to take an early 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs scored in five of their six offensive innings.
Hillcrest Academy 17, Pekin 2
The Ravens put up 11 points in the first inning of a 15-run Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division win.
Seth Ours went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Hillcrest. Luke Schrock was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Josiah Beachy was 1-for-1 at the plate with two RBIs. He also threw a complete game, giving up just two runs (one earned), while striking out six Panthers over four innings.
Highland 5, Wapello 0
Highland’s Ethan Paisley continued his dominant start to the year, striking out 14 batters in a three-hit shut out of SEISC North rival Wapello.
Tyler Thompson led the Highland offense, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Ethan and Aiden Paisley both knocked in a run.
Belle Plaine 13, Keota 3
Keota couldn’t hold off an early Belle Plaine rush, giving up the first 10 runs of the ballgame before putting up runs.
Aidan Anderson, Aiden McGuire and Chase Sieren all had RBIs for the Eagles in the loss.
