Tuesday’s soccer roundup: Hillcrest stays perfect

Tuesday brought a handful of boys soccer games into the area, and all were decided by two goals or less. Hillcrest Academy scored a thrilling shootout victory to stay undefeated this season. Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union and WACO both fell in tight matchups.
Hillcrest Academy 2, Central Lee one (SO)
Hillcrest Academy scored a comeback win against Central Lee to stay unbeaten through three games.
The Ravens had to battle back after a first half Central Lee goal. Hillcrest’s Owen Scott scored in the second half to force overtime, getting an assist from Rowan Miller.
The game went all the way past penalty kicks into extra penalty kicks, with Hillcrest Academy out-dueling Central Lee 6-5 shootout.
Sigourney 2, Columbus/WMU 0
The Wildcats couldn’t solve the Savages in a home game. Sigourney scored one goal in the first half and one more in the second.
Notre Dame 1, WACO 0 (2OT)
WACO showed it could hang with Notre Dame in the Warriors’ first ever game against the Nikes.
Colton Leichty faced a ton of shots but saved 17 of them in the double overtime loss.
