Turner, Duwa blasts carry teams to victory

Home runs by Keota's Brady Duwa and Washington's Luke Turner highlighted area baseball action Monday.
Demons demolish Chiefs
KEOKUK - Washington (5-4) took two from their Southeast Conference foe Keokuk (0-10), 13-3 and 18-2.
Luke Turner highlighted the night with a triple and a home run for the Demons in the 13-3 win. Trevor Quigley went 3-for-4 as did Wilx Witthoft, who had two doubles. Lucas Kroll threw four of the five innings with five hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
Reece Mayer had four runs batted in during the 18-2 win with a double, a triple and a single. Ethan Patterson and Zeke Slagel combined to allow six hits, four walks and nine strikeouts.
Bloodhounds sweep Fairfield
FAIRFIELD - The Trojans (2-7) dropped a SEC doubleheader to Ft. Madison (8-2) 7-0 and 8-5.
After getting just six hits in the opener, the Trojans came back to lead 3-0 and 4-2 before dropping the nightcap.
Elan Ledger only gave up one earned run in the 8-5 loss in six innings on the mound. He was a combined 3-for-6 with a double at the plate in the two games. Carter Ferrel went 2-for-3 with a double in the nightcap and Nate Smithburg was 3-for-4 with a double. Max Weaton had two runs batted in.
Ravens blank Indians
WAPELLO - Hillcrest (3-5) won 11-0 at Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division foe Wapello (1-6) behind Eli Ours' two-hit, one-walk, eight-strikeout shutout.
London Schrock, Drew Blauvelt, Kobe Borntrager and Aiden Yoder each hit a double.
Huskies dog Wolves
WINFIELD - Highland (5-3) ended this North game at Winfield-Mt. Union (1-6), with four runs in the top of the sixth and the home team scored just two in the bottom of the inning for a 13-2 final.
Chase Schultz went 3-for-3 with a triple to lead Highland while Cael Yeggy had a single and a double. Trevor McFarland went five innings on the mound with three hits, two walks and 10 strikeouts. Carson Netser threw the final inning.
Christian Gerot led W-MU with two hits.
No. 8 Golden Hawks soar
WEST LIBERTY - Mid-Prairie (7-2) won this River Valley Conference game in six innings 16-6 over West Liberty (4-4).
Carson Grout led the Hawks with a 3-for-3 performance and batted in five runs. Aidan Rath had a triple while Brad Tornow and Grout each connected on a double. Tornow and Kayden Reinier combined to allow seven hits, four walks and 10 K's.
Eagles
KEOTA - Tri-County (1-5) lost this South Iowa Cedar League game 15-2 at Keota (3-4).
Brady Duwa connected on a home run and a single, batting in four runs in the win. Colten Clarahan had two doubles. Clarahan, Duwa and Luke Hammen combined for the win on the hill with four hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
Panthers claw past Lions
PACKWOOD - Lone Tree (4-5) lost this North game at Pekin (5-2) 8-5.
Brady Millikin led the Panthers with a 3-for-5 plate performance and Kennan Winn was 2-for-2. Chase Stansberry threw 4.2 innings with four hits, three walks and six strikeouts. Gage Gillam went 2.1 innings with two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
