WEST LIBERTY - It was all Turner, all the time Friday as he became a 200-200 man.
Quarterback Luke Turner piled up some amazing statistics for Washington as Class 3A's eighth-ranked Demons moved their record to 4-0 with a 42-20 win at West Liberty.
The Demons scored first and led 21-6 at halftime. neither team scored in the third quarter.
The senior quarterback threw for 203 yards and rushed for 204, accounting for all six of his team's touchdowns. That would be two passing and four rushing. He was 9 for 18 passing and rushed 15 times.
'W are certainly glad Luke plays for us,” Washington head coach James Harris said. 'Our offensive line makes a lot of what he does possible. Our whole offense has really been clicking.”
Turner has 1,253 combined yards passing and rushing this season, with 16 total TDs.
Through four games, the Demons are just 23 yards rushing short of last year's season total.
Wyatt Stout racked up 122 yards rushing on just 13 carries against the Comets.
Ethan Hunt and Zac Stout each caught three passes. Hunt had 112 yards receiving and Zac Stout 74 with a 28-yard TD. Brady Knutson caught two passes for 11 yards and Wyatt Sout one for six.
'Ethan and Zac had some incredible grabs,” Harris said.
One of Hunt's receptions went 88 yards for a score. Turner did throw two interceptions.
On defense, Wyatt Stout and Kasen Bailey each had an interception. Zayne Laws and Bryan Martin each had two solo sacks. Lucas Kroll had six tackles.
'Laws had a great game with 11 total tackles and four total tackles for loss,” Harris said. 'We have to cut back on our penalties (11 for 115 yards). We were missing some of our keys on defense. There are some things we need to clean up.”
Washington starts district play Friday hosting Keokuk for Homecoming. Keokuk is also 4-0.
