Two Washington archery teams take first at Alburnett tournament Saturday
The Washington Archery Program had another successful tournament at Alburnett Saturday, Jan. 28.
The high school and middle school teams received top honors by shooting their season-high team scores and placing first. The elementary team also shot their season's highest score and placed fourth.
The Washington High School Team scored 3,313 out of a perfect score of 3,600 and placed first out of nine teams.

The Washington Archery Program had another successful tournament at Alburnett Saturday, Jan. 28.
The high school and middle school teams received top honors by shooting their season-high team scores and placing first. The elementary team also shot their season's highest score and placed fourth.
The Washington High School Team scored 3,313 out of a perfect score of 3,600 and placed first out of nine teams.
Medal winners were Grace Shafer in first place with a score of 287 with 20 bulls-eyes.
Griffin Wood came in second place with a score of 290 and 21 bulls-eyes and John Sands came in third place with a score of 290 and 20 bulls-eyes.
Samantha Mellinger earned fourth place with a 283, James Zabel placed ninth with a 281, Mitchell Driscoll placed 11th with a 279, Braeden Duwa placed 15th with a 275, and Maggie Morgan placed 16th with a 270.
The Washington Middle School Team scored 3,260 out of a perfect 3,600 and placed first out of seven teams.
Medal winner Cooper Read earned third place with a score of 281 with 16 bulls-eyes, while Hunter Shultz placed fourth with a score of 281 and 13 bulls-eyes.
Lane Frana earned sixth place with a 278, Bryan Martin placed ninth with a 276, Allison Rees placed fifth with a 274, Bryce DeWolf placed 14th with a 271, and Samantha Frana placed 11th with a 270.
The Lincoln Elementary School Team scored 2,611 out of a perfect 3,600 and placed fourth out of five teams.
Medal winner Makynna Morgan earned third place with a score of 259. Miguel Torres Jr. earned seventh place with a 240, Emmersyn Wenger earned sixth place with a 240, Blake Evans earned 11th place with a 236, and Landon Messer placed 18th with a 225.
The coaches continue to be impressed with the improvement in team scores and look forward to keeping the successes going in preparation of the State Archery Tournament in March.
The teams head to Cedar Rapids Prairie Point Saturday, Feb. 4.
