WASHINGTON — Another Demon track star is moving north to Waverly.
Washington senior Alec Ulin signed his letter of intent to run at Wartburg just before going off to the state track tournament earlier this month.
Ulin will follow in the footsteps of former teammate Lance Sobaski, who signed on to run at Wartburg two years ago. Class of 2023 runner Elijah Morris had considered Waverly before ultimately signing with Iowa.
“I've always had Wartburg in the back of my mind after Elijah was talking about it,” Ulin said. “He would talk about how good the coaches are, I really saw that after I started looking there.”
Ulin qualified for state this year in the distance medley relay as well as the 4X100.
The Demon senior says he’s not sure what his major will be yet, although he is interested in science and technology.
Ulin says running with the Demons has changed his attitude about athletics.
“Coach Roth is an excellent coach,” Ulin said. “He's taught me the meaning of a team you can actually be a family with. It has really changed my perspective on sports.”
