Union area teams compete at Iowa City West
Cardinal, Mid-Prairie, New London, Columbus and Fairfield all featured

IOWA CITY — Union area teams had a day on Saturday, partaking in the Eastern Iowa Track and Field Festival hosted by Iowa City West.
Cardinal, Mid-Prairie, New London, Columbus and Fairfield all participated in the meet.
Both girls and boys area teams had a nice showing, as the boys meet featured 56 total teams and the girls 44.
On the boys’ side of the card, there were two winners from the area.
Fairfield’s River Patterson bested the 400-meter dash field with a time of 50.41.
New London picked up one lone victory in the form of Kade Benjamin. Benjamin won high jump with a 6-02.00 jump.
For the girls, the Fairfield 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay team consisting of Anna Dunlap, Maya Lane, Mallory Lyon and Kelsey Pacha were winners, finishing with a time of 1:07.72.
Mid-Prairie had two victories on the day. Mitzi Evans took first in the 400-meter dash with a 57.80, the fastest time in class 2A thus far.
Danielle Hostetler also secured a first place medal for the Golden Hawks in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:40.02. Teammate Sydney Yoder followed close behind in second with a time of 10:41.81.
