Van Buren back at it vs. Notre Dame
BURLINGTON ? One game removed from seeing its undefeated season ruined at 15 games, the Van Buren girls? basketball team was back with vigor.
The Warriors (16-1, 12-1 SEISC south) scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back on their way to a 52-38 victory at Burlington-Notre Dame (5-10, 4-9).
Junior Makenzie Zeitler scored nine straight points as part of the run and finished the game with 18 points

The Warriors (16-1, 12-1 SEISC south) scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back on their way to a 52-38 victory at Burlington-Notre Dame (5-10, 4-9).
Junior Makenzie Zeitler scored nine straight points as part of the run and finished the game with 18 points to lead the way.
The Nike?s played even the rest of the way, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Hannah Haynes scored the other two buckets in the early run and finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Van Buren.
Katy Kirk scored a game-high 23 points for Notre Dame to lead all scorers.
Jessica Saunders added 10 points and five boards for the Warriors while Paige Gaston dished out five assists.
Van Buren will now look to start a new winning streak with tonight?s home game against New London.
Boys: Burlington-Notre Dame 56, Van Buren 34
BURLINGTON ? Van Buren held a one-point lead, 25-24, with four seconds remaining in the first half before Burlington-Notre Dame?s Jon Lowell hit a deep buzzer-beater to put his team up 27-25.
The Nikes (13-3, 11-2) never gave back the lead and allowed just nine second half points in a 56-34 victory over Van Buren (6-9, 6-7) Monday night.
Lowell finished the game with 23 points to lead Notre Dame.
Colin Weaver came up with 15 points for Van Buren, Elliott Remick scored nine and Ryne Smith added six.
The loss is Van Buren?s fifth in the last six games
The Warriors hope to get back on track at home vs. lowly New London tonight.
