Van Buren boys? golf wins opener
The Van Buren boys? golf team opened up its season with a home victory Monday at the Riverview Country Club over Lone Tree.
The Warriors scored a 182, while Lone Tree shot a 213.
Austin Bartholomew led the Warriors by shooting a 41 on the nine hole, par-36 course. Bartholomew birdied hole No. 3, which is a par-5 hole.

Three of his teammates also shot in the 40s. Noah Witten shot a 44, Robby Laughlin shot a 48 and Brandon Plecker shot a 49. Braxton Bainbridge (51) and Mitch Garrels (55) rounded out the starting lineup for the Warriors.
The JV squad didn?t earn a win, but a couple of players earned high scores. Tyler Overstreet shot a 48 and Colton Gates shot a 50. Behind them were Tyson Sprouse with a 52 and Robert Barker with a 58.

The Van Buren girls? golf team fell to Lone Tree to open up the season Monday at Riverview Country Club in Keosauqua.
The Warriors were outscored 233-255. Lydia Heald was the leading scorer on the course with a 54. Heald shot par on holes three and seven, which are both par-5 holes.
Taylor Murguia shot a 70 and Bethany Millard shot a 73.
The Van Buren girls and boys teams will host West Burlington Notre Dame Thursday.
