KEOSAUQUA — Van Buren County gave Central Decatur its best shot in a Class 1A District 6 home game on Friday night, but the Warriors didn’t have enough offense in the second half of a 22-14 loss.
The Warriors got on the board first, on a pass from Jackson Manning to Sam Warth. Warth, who was playing his first game since September 10, found the en zone with 4:06 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion was good, and Van Buren County was up 8-0.
Central Decatur tied the game in the final 15 seconds of the first period, but the Warriors took the lead again on their next play from scrimmage. Manning found Anthony Duncan on a 60-yard bomb that gave Van Buren County a 14-8 lead after one.
Unfortunately for the hometown fans, Van Buren County never scored again. Central Decatur put up seven in the second quarter to lead 15-14, and scored one more time in the fourth.
Van Buren County is now 2-4 overall and 0-3 in district play. The Warriors will host Pleasantville this week.
