Van Buren County and the state's leading scorer - Isabelle Manning - joined the rankings for the first time this season.
The ninth rankings of the 2020-21 basketball season were released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union but it doesn't seem it spent too much time on the rankings.
Van Buren County was 15th in Class 2A. Fellow Southeast Iowa Super Conference schools Winfield-Mt. Union and its unblemished record stayed at 10th in Class 1A, Notre Dame 11th with little change in the top 15. Collins-Maxwell is also unbeaten and stayed seventh but MMCRU dropped from fifth to sixth with two losses, Woodbury Central was replaced at No. 15 with Paton-Churdan, Westwood went from 12 to 14 as Lenox (13 to 12) and North Mahaska (14 to 13) moved up one.
North Mahaska's fellow South Iowa Cedar League team Montezuma stayed at eighth.
Classes 5A and 3A flipped a couple teams but none more than three spots and two new teams entered the rankings in 2A and 4A. However neither of the 4A teams were Fort Madison of the Southeast Conference, which has a 13-1 record. No one in 4A has more wins.
Class 3A West Burlington, of the SEISC South Division, has one additional victory with a 14-1 ledger, and it stayed at No. 8 in 3A.
River Valley Conference schools West Branch (No. 3 in 2A) Bellevue (No. 6 in 2A) and West Liberty (No. 7 in 3A) are in the same spots as the previous week, but Cascade moved up from 15 to 13 in 2A.

Fort Madison did not enter the rankings for the first time this season despite no team in Class 4A has more wins than the Bloodhounds, who are led by Malarie Ross' 21 points a game average. Fairfield only gave up 11 points to Ross, (with ball) being defended by Fairfield's Danielle Breen (white) and Anna Dunlap (2) but the Trojans lost 42-36. The two teams play tonight in Fort Madison.
