Van Buren County girls, New London boys win
Warriors and Tigers split SEISC South battles

KEOSAUQUA — New London headed west to play at Van Buren County in Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division action on Thursday night. When the dust settled, the night ended 1-1.
The Warrior girls struck first blood, holding home court against the visiting Tigers 60-37. The New London boys earned revenge in the boys’ game, taking it 62-39.
The VBC girls led 12-10 after one quarter, 35-20 at halftime and 48-29 after three periods.
Marlee Mertens had a great night for VBC, especially from 3-point land. Mertens hit six of her eight 3-pont tries en route to a 22-point performance.
Ivy Davidson finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Sophia Jirak had eight points. Kayley Snowgren had four. Shae Batten scored three. Daphney Wells had two, and Addison Brauns finished with one.
The win for the New London boys’ win snapped a 3-point losing streak. Stats for the boys’ game are not yet available.
