Van Buren County tops Cardinal for postseason win

KEOSAUQUA — Van Buren County and Cardinal battled it out in a Class 2A Region 2 quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday night.
It was the two’s third meeting of the season, with the Warriors taking the previous two.
The narrative stayed the same as VBC was able to down Cardinal in four sets, 25-14, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-14.
The Warriors (20-9) looked dominant early, but the Comets (7-23) only got better through three sets.
After a lopsided first set, Cardinal was able to slim the margins in the second before taking a back and forth third set.
However, the Warriors found their stride once again in the fourth to end it.
With the win, Van Buren County moves on to take on Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on the road.
