Van Buren County track teams take 3rd

LETTS — Both the Van Buren County track teams walked away from Thursday’s Louisa-Muscatine Invitational with third-place finishes. The girls team scored 55 points, and the boys scored 53.
The Warrior girls had five wins on the day including three in the relays. The 4x800-meter relay team of Emma Cochenhour, Isabel Manning, Bree Kirkhart and Faith Neeley won in 11 minutes and 30 seconds. The distance medley squad of Kirkhart, Kadence Nusbaum, Neely and Manning won in 4:56, and the 4x200 squad of Reece Kracht, Shea Scott, Maddy Johnson and Kirkhart won in 2:01.74.
Manning had the lone individual track win for the VBC girls, winning the 800-meter run in 2:40. Ella Jirak took the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches.
The Warrior boys had two wins. The shuttle hurdle squad of Tyler Stoltz, Sam Warth, Wyatt Mertens and Lane Davis won in 1:10.09, and Davis took the top spot in the 110-meter high hurdles, crossing in 16.32 seconds.
