Van Buren girls start season hot
BURLINGTON ? The Van Buren girls? golf team easily shot past West Burlington-Notre Dame with a 66-stroke victory, 204-270, Tuesday evening at Flint Hills.
Maddisen Hughes led the Warriors with a medalist score of 49 while Kaila Butts and Payten Hughes shared the runner-up spots one stroke back with a 50.
Alex Rambo rounded out the team score with a 55 and Meredith Miller turned in a 66 as an alternate.

Warrior boys fall short
BURLINGTON ? The Van Buren boys? golf team fell 170-204 to West Burlington-Notre Dame in its first meet of the season Tuesday.
Austin Countryman had the low score for the Warriors with a 46, Jordan Hagans carded a 52 and Caleb Millard and Kyle Johnson each had a 53.
Tyler Dick was the medalist with a 53 and Kyle Mesecher was the runnner-up with a 42.
Van Buren is now scheduled to host Holy Trinity Thursday at Riverview Country Club.
