Van Buren golfers fifth in Donnellson

DONNELLSON ? The Van Buren boys? golf team finished fifth out of seven teams Saturday at the Central Lee Golf Tournament on Green Acres Golf Course in Donnellson.

The Warriors finished with a team tally of 374 to place ahead of Fort Madison (392) and IMS (463). Central Lee won on its own course with a score of 317, and Keokuk was runner-up at 329.

Leading the way for Van Buren was Brandon Plecker with a score of 89 on the par-72 course. Ryan Nelson tallied a 93, Nic Giberson finished with a 95 and Mitch Garrels rounded out the team score with a 97.

The Warriors? Noah Witten checked in with an alternate score of 99.

Central Lee?s Brian Krehbiel won meet medalist honors after firing a 3-under-par 69.

Van Buren finishes the regular season Tuesday at WACO.
