Van Buren splits with Danville

FARMINGTON - Van Buren County hosted Danville in a boy-girl doubleheader at Harmony High School on Monday, and the night ended in a split decision, with the No. 6 (2A) Warrior girls winning 51-21 but the boys dropping their game 61-52.
The VBC girls dominant from the get-go, leading 21-8 after one quarter, 32-9 at halftime and 39-13 after three.
Taryn Scheuermann scored 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting to lead the Warriors. She also finished the night with three blocks.
Isabel Manning had another big game herself, going off for 19 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Madison Bartholowmew had seven points. Sydney Zollars scored three. Kalyn Tuttle had two.
Grace Davidson didn't score, but she finished the night with a team-leading seven steals. Lexi Jirak co-led the team with three assists.
The Van Buren boys have now lost four games in a row.
The two teams traveled to Burlington on Tuesday night for a pair of Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division road games. The Union will have a recap of those games on the Thursday editions.
