MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant senior Rellana Van Deuren signed her letter of intent last Wednesday to attend and dance at Iowa Central Community College.
Van Deuren, who plans on studying psychology, will continue her dance career in Fort Dodge, a decision she says she made after seeing Iowa Central at a dance combine.
“I definitely was looking at a lot of options,” Van Deuren said. “Iowa Central really stuck out to me, because they were so kind, and they were very enthusiastic.”
Van Deuren says she has been wanting to dance at the level ever since she found out it was a possibility.
“I've always wanted to dance at that level, ever since I started dance team at high school,” she said. “I didn't even know you could dance in college up until then.”
Van Deuren, who is currently in the middle of her senior year of track and field, says her favorite memories as a Mt. Pleasant dance member were made at the state meets.
“State is an amazing experience, going there and seeing how amazing all of the dances are,” Van Deuren said.
