KAHOKA, Mo. - The No. 15 (2A) Van Buren County girls basketball team came up one-point short after traveling across the Iowa-Missouri border to take on Clark County (Mo.) on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors fell in a nail-biter, 47-46.
VBC led 11-7 after the first quarter, but Clark County stormed back in the second quarter and took a 24-22 lead into halftime.
After being held to just six points in the first half, a season low, Isabel Manning came alive in the third quarter, scoring 11 points, including a 3-pointer at the horn. The Indians and Warriors went into the fourth quarter tied 39-39.
Trailing 47-46 with time winding down, Manning put up a jumper to win, but it rolled off and Clark County survived, snapping VBC's eighth-game winning streak.
